Waters Landing Elementary families:
WLES PTA is proud to announce our annual Spring Scholastic Book Fair. Our Spring Book Fair is scheduled for:
IT IS BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!!
Your child’s class will be visiting our Book Fair, at which time they will create a “Wish List.” They will bring this list home for you to review. Please note that some books sell out faster than others and may not be available. We will do our best to ensure that these books are restocked quickly. Students will be allowed to purchase books during the Book Fair however, we also encourage you to attend our Grandparents or Family night.
Teachers will also create wish lists for books to be used in your child’s classroom. A GREAT way to give a teacher a GREAT gift. We are currently looking for volunteer to help set up, help kids write down names of books on their wish lists and pack up at the end.
ALL PURCHASES ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS. NO RETURNS. SORRY!
Dear Waters Landing Families:
We hope everyone had a safe weekend. Please pay attention to the weather for the morning commute.
ATTENTION ALL GRADE 2 PARENTS
Our school will begin gathering information about Grade 2 students to help match students to appropriate instructional placement in Grade 3 and for Gifted and Talented (GT) identification. During the next couple of weeks, all Grade 2 students in Montgomery County Public Schools will be assessed using the InView. Our testing dates are Dec. 10th, 11th, and 12th. The InView is an assessment of cognitive abilities. Each subtest takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. Over the next few months we will continue gathering information about each student from a variety of sources, including parents.
Make-up Student Picture Day
Student Picture make-up day will be held on Wednesday, December 11th. If you are unhappy with your child’s picture, simply return the entire, uncut package on December 11th and the photographer will retake the picture package. If you missed picture day, order forms will be available in the school office.
4th Grade Field Trip
The 4th grade classes will be going on a field trip to the American Indian Museum on Friday, Dec. 13th. We know that they enjoy this fabulous field trip and do a great job representing our school.
NEW–Pay for Field Trips on-line
You may now pay for field trips online with a Visa or Master Card credit or debit card. There is a link to this system on our school website.
The WLES SGA invites you to give back to the community through the WLES shoebox drive.
The students of the student government believe we treat others the way we would like to be treated when we remind those in need that someone cares about them. The SGA will collect shoeboxes and supplies for those in need. The shoeboxes will be delivered to homeless shelters in the area. Your child should have brought home a flyer with this information. I am also attaching it to our Connect Ed email.
Mark your calendars: The PTA is sponsoring the Red Robin Spirit Night on Dec. 17th.
Kindergarten field trip to Baltimore Aquarium on Dec.18th
Winter Break December 23rd thru January 1st. Classes will resume on Thursday, January 2nd.
Have a safe evening and a great week!
